I have somethime better than Viagra

THE EFFECTS OF CHEMO AND HAVING AN IMPLANT

The end of October we planned a trip to Alabama for my nephew's wedding. My Oncologist told us to go and "have a good time." He offered a prescription for Viagra. I told him, "Doc I have something better than Viagra." He asked what? I told him about the implant. He smiled and said for us to "have a good time." WE DID !!!

When I was released from the hospital I had a drain in my side and home health nurses for about 6 weeks. When I started chemo I could hardly walk and had to use a wheel chair. After getting the nausea under control I started to feel some better. The chemo also caused severe anemia.

When I had moments that I felt a little better I began to inflate my implant. Daily inflation gave me a feeling of being normal again. My primary doctor also kept my testosterone level high to help.

Let me say it loud and clear. Being able to have an erection gave me strength and hope. A loving and caring wife also made a big difference.  Thanks to the implant we were able to start back making love after a few weeks. My wife did everything to make me feel wanted and needed. I was and am very weak and she made sure I had enough stimulation for intercourse.

Bottom Line: After almost a year my energy level is low and the anemia keeps me down. The "chemo effect" can come over me most any time and take all my strength. That said every night I can inflate my implant and feel normal. Our sex life has returned to almost normal (4-6 times a month.) The love and care I receive from my Beautiful Green Eyed Wife has been an important part of my recovery.

Having the implant keeps our love life normal. Without it I doubt I could function.

Yes I follow my own advice and inflate my implant every day. Being able to have an erection is both emotionally and physically healing.

I have not posted on the blog for some time. I keep getting emails and am glad that I am now able to answer them and answer your questions.  I will have "maintenance chemo", with breaks, to keep the cancer from coming back and/or spreading. For me the fact I have the implant keeps me feeling normal.
